THE MORE WE ARE THE STRONGER WE ARE
by Dr. Bruce Levine

The recent AIPAC Conference in Washington D.C. was truly an eye opened for all who attended. Our initial awareness of this incredible organization occurred at CNT at Shabbat In The Round on February 3rd. after listening to AIPAC representative, Elliott Brandt, Irma and I became aware of the impending nuclear crisis involving Iran and the dangers to Israel and the United States of America of the recently elected Hamas-led government in the disputed territories. It occurred to us that it wasn’t enough to listen. We needed to take a position and do something about it. We then joined Rabbi Jeret and Arianna, powered up, and left for the AIPAC conference in Washington as part of our CNT delegation.
Arriving at the conference, it became immediately apparent that we were not alone; there were 5,000 like-minded people who made the journey from all over the United States. There were others from Israel, Europe, and all over the world. This diverse but commonly committed multitude evoked a sense of unified purpose and camaraderie among our own group that energized us. Despite fatigue and jetlag, we found ourselves staying up to schmooze until hours that many of us hadn’t known while awake for a good many a years! We grew closer to one another as a group while sharing in AIPAC’s special cause.
Our ultimate purpose, however, was to take action. We all went together to Capitol Hill to lobby our local representative. Our delegation walked into Dana Rohrabacher’s office standing in solid support for the positions spoken effectively by Rabbi Jeret on behalf of our group, AIPAC, and the larger Jewish community. As significant as we were in number for our first-ever CNT delegation, it is imperative that we multiply our representation going forward to become even more effective. A strong voice accompanied by a larger group that is informed about and committed to the issues is a recipe for success. With AIPAC’s guidance, with our Rabbi, and with more of us, we can make a tremendous difference.
Our goal is to return next year in significantly increased numbers. Our 10 person delegation has committed to returning next year and to bring additional members from our congregation, friends, and family. Now is the time! If not now, when will you join us? Call Rabbi Jeret for more information. Count yourself in and help to make a real difference.

WHY EACH OF US SHOULD CONSIDER GOING TO AIPAC'S ANNUAL POLICY CONFERENCE IN MAY 2009
By Rabbi Isaac Jeret

Dear Friends:

For an ever-growing number of people associated with our community, participation in our congregation's annual delegation to AIPAC's Annual Policy Conference in Washington, D.C. has developed into a primary expression of their support for the State of Israel. As I write this column, we have, forty-four people registered as part of our delegation to this year's conference. Continued>
