Congregation
Ner Tamid Simcha Service - Oneg
Shabbat & Kiddush for your Special Shabbat
It
is traditional for the Bar/Bat Mitzvah family to attend Shabbat services
on both the Friday evening and Saturday morning of their Shabbat. It is
also customary that they host the Oneg Shabbat
and Kiddush in honor of their family's simcha.
To make these arrangements, please call Peter Carpenter, Catering
Coordinator at Congregation Ner Tamid, at
least six weeks in advance of your celebration.
Oneg
Shabbat
On Friday evening, a standard Oneg Shabbat
consists of special parve appetizers and
cookies, fruit, coffee, tea and lemonade. If you wish to have sponsor fancy pastries or other special items, they can be ordered
through the Catering Department for an additional charge. Most weeks the Oneg
Shabbat is held before services in the lobby at 6:00
p.m.
Shabbat Evening Services begin at 6:15
p.m.
most weeks. On those weeks
when the Shabbat Evening Service begins at 7:15
p.m.
the Oneg Shabbat follows the service in the
Levine Community Center.
Kiddush
At the end of Shabbat morning services, the Bar/Bat Mitzvah and their
immediate family (usually parents and siblings) come up to the Bimah
and join in singing the Kiddush and reciting the motzi.
Traditionally, the family of the Bar/Bat Mitzvah hosts the synagogue
Kiddush following Services, which includes challah,
wine and grape juice, cookies and fruit.
Extended
Kiddush
If a more extensive Kiddush is desired, menus can be customized to both
fit your budget and enhance your family's special day. Extended Kiddush
can begin with a sorbet punch and a special cake, or go all the way to
menus featuring poached salmon, bagels and cream cheese, a full array of
dairy salads, appetizers, fruit displays, blintzes and more. It is
customary to host our Ner Tamid community as well as your family and
invited guests, so please plan for an additional fifty people at your
Extended Kiddush.
Family
Shabbat Dinners
We are delighted to offer you the option of a beautiful full service five
course Shabbat Dinner here at the synagogue, including challah,
kiddush wine and candles. Your dinner may be
held either before or after Services, depending on which week your simcha
falls. There are a variety of menu options, so please call us for pricing
and availability.
Costs
The cost of hosting both the standard Oneg
Shabbat and Kiddush for Friday evening and Saturday morning is $600.00.
This includes food, set-up, clean up and paper goods. The prices of an
Extended Kiddush or Oneg Shabbat will be
determined in your consultations with Peter Carpenter, with pricing based
on food and labor costs.
